“Kenmerkend voor mijn werk is een behoefte aan participatie van de toeschouwer. Zonder de actieve handeling van het publiek is er geen geluid, geen beweging; de tijd staat stil, het werk is onvolledig. Mijn muziekmachines zijn gelaste constructies. Het hoofdmateriaal is betonijzer; ik heb dit materiaal verkozen omdat: – het een grote grafische kwaliteit heeft, dankzij de vorm en structuur; – het soepel verwerkbaar is; –het grote consequente toepassings-mogelijkheden heeft; – in veel verschillende diktes verkrijgbaar is ; – het een opvallend mooie klank heeft ; –en het de toegepaste techniek inzichtelijk maakt, waardoor de bewegende onderdelen de dynamiek van de beweging accentueren. Mijn credo is: ik bouw tot het beweegt en klinkt. Staal / interactie / transparantie / geluid / beweging.”

“Characteristically for my work is the need for the observer’s participation. Without an active act from the audience, there is no sound, no movement: time is standing still, the work is incomplete. My music machines are welded constructions and the main material is reinforcing steel. I have chosen this material because: it has a great graphic quality due to the shape and structure; it is easily processable; it offers major consequent application possibilities; it is available in many thicknesses; it has an extremely beautiful sound; and because it makes the employed technique visible, due to which the moving parts accentuate the dynamic of the movement. My creed is: I build until it moves and resounds. Steel / interaction / transparency / sound / movement.”
